Course Summary:
Cricket Derbyshire and Derby College have worked in partnership to create the Cricket Derbyshire Training Academy which offers training and qualifications for young people from the age of 16.
This is a fantastic offer for people across the region who are interested in sport, cricket events, competency and coaching. Young people taking part will have the best of both worlds: training in Derbyshire County Cricket Club's facilities and taking practical lessons with professional qualified ECB coaches and players at the County Ground.
Entry requirements
Applications are welcomed from individuals who participate in cricket at club level and from those who may have already had trials at a higher level but were unsuccessful. Candidates must show a desire and willingness to develop their sporting performance.

Course programme

Course Content: Derby College’s involvement with Cricket Derbyshire Training Academy enables high quality sports courses with a cricket focus to be delivered to learners. Highly qualified and respected cricket coaches will develop learners' cricketing skills and will provide: Technical and tactical coaching Use of Derbyshire County Cricket Club's elite training facilities Psychological, physiological and lifestyle management Additional cricket-related coaching or officiating qualifications Health and fitness programmes How will I be assessed? Players will be judged in line with Cricket Derbyshire’s performance criteria when being considered for a place on the programme: Cricket performance level (past or present) Current level of fitness Motivation to reach sporting potential Application for learning new skills Consistent technical ability A strong academic background Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? Learners need to purchase a kit. The cost of this will be finalised at the start of the course but is expected to be in the region of £120 and will include yearly gym membership and the end-of-year celebration event. This money should be received before November. There may be additional costs incurred for selected trips or expeditions. Learners are expected to have their own bat, pads and helmet. What can I do after this course? On successful completion of the course, learners may wish to progress to the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching or to seek employment within the sport and leisure sector.
