Description

# My name is Kathleen Pitt MAR RN Cert Ed. I am the Principal of The Academy School of Reflexology and Holistic Massage Northampton, and also the main tutor.# I became interested in reflexology when I attended a one day workshop. I was fascinated that by using a specialised massage on the feet one could learn a lot about that persons health.# I decided to train as a reflexologist and went to Aylesbury to gain my Association of Reflexologists qualification.# I then set up in practice as a reflexologists. Unfortunately I had a car accident which injured my back and brought an abrupt end to my practice.# I did not want to give up reflexology as it had become my passion so I decided that if I could not practice I could still teach it.# I took a teaching diploma and approached the AoR to be an accredited school so that the students would have an excellent qualification at the end. After meeting all the requirements for accreditation I then set up my school of reflexology training in Northampton Since starting I have trained 50 students with only 2 students failing the written exam for the first time and only one student failing on the second attempt. So The Academy has a 98% pass rate.I am a:# Qualified Registered Nurse of 26 years (retired).# Qualified Reflexologist for 17 years.# Qualified teacher of 10 years# Qualified First Aider being a member of St John Ambulance for 28 years# and holds a D32/33 training and assessors award.# Qualified in Holistic Massage 10years ago.The Academy is private school established in 1990 and is accredited by The Association of Reflexologists(AoR) and the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC)# The Academy is situated in the idyllic surroundings of the Crossroads Oasis Complementary Centre near the little village of Holcot, Near Northampton which is easily accessable from London,Birmingham,Coventry,Bedfordshire,Buckinghamshire,Oxfordshire,Cambridgeshire, and surrounding area of Northamptonshire.# Full courses in Reflexology start twice a year in February and September; they run for one full weekend a month for 10 months; ending with written and practical exams. All courses include Anatomy and Physiology and Business Awareness.# Bridging courses in reflexology start July and February and run for 5 months culminating again with written and practical exams. Bridging courses are for students who have already taken a course in Reflexology and would like to convert to AoR status.Places on the courses are limited to 10 students so early application is recommended.# All students are expected to wear a uniform to give a professional appearance. This consists of a white short sleeved top, navy or black trousers or skirt, black or navy closed toes shoes. If wearing a skirt tights must be worn.At the end of the course you will have acheived an ABC level 3 diploma in Reflexology or an ITEC level 3 diploma in Holistic Massage.
