The Bournemouth and Poole College delivers this programme in 6 months, successfully preparing students for entry to undergraduate degrees at a range of UK universities.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an externally recognised qualification: UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design- Foundation Studies, awarded by University of the Arts London (UAL).

This course enables students to develop the skills needed to make an informed decision when applying to art and design higher education institutions, or seeking employment within a related industry.

About this course
This programme is for students who are seeking to follow a Higher Education Degree in a range of Art and Design subjects. International students also benefit from personal tutor support and timetabled Study Skills, Academic English and IELTS sessions, to develop language skills and to prepare for studies at degree level.
Upon successful completion of the course most students progress on to Higher Education (degree or HND in their chosen area of study). After completing the course you will have gained the equivalent of 3 A ‘levels along with a substantial portfolio of art work which will assist you with interviews at university.

The course is designed for students of 17 years plus who have completed high school matriculation in their own country, or GCSE equivalent.
The general entry requirements for this programmes are:
To have completed 11 years of high school with good school leaving qualifications, including relevant subjects (please ask for the specific entry requirements for your country)
English language at IELTS 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 in each element, or equivalent. You will be offered English Language and study support alongside your main programme.

Course programme
The aim of the course is to prepare students for higher education or employment by allowing skills to be developed and refined in their chosen area of study.
This is a broad and practical programme of study. It allows the student to extend the range of their portfolio via visual arts, fashion and textiles, graphics, photography, 3D design etc. During this course you will be introduced to contemporary art practice, examining the range of work currently being produced by artists and designers.
You will develop research and communication skills and learn to talk about your work to peers in the form of group critiques and seminars.
Course structure
The course is structured over six months and will include subject specific content combined with core subjects and other modules:
Core subjects and other modules: Preparation for IELTS; Study and Research Skills; University Placement Advice; End of Year Exhibition
Specialist subjects: Fashion; Fine Art; Graphics; Textiles and Illustration; Design; Photography and Lens Based Media.
