This course is designed for mature students (aged 19 and over) who would like to study IT at university or move straight into a job in the IT industry.
On this demanding course you will learn about coding, web design, IT security, computer systems and networks and how they are essential to industry. You will cover all topics to a detailed level from web design through to databases and system analysis.
The Digital and Creative Faculty is based in our purpose built facility. Our IT students work in our CISCO networking labs and programming suites.

Course programme
Subjects may include;
Introduction to Application Software, Computer Systems, Web Design and Event Driven programming. You will also develop and understanding of Networking and hardware as well as more familiar content such as spread sheets and databases. These units are specifically selected to meet the needs of the regions digital industry.
The knowledge you develop studying these topics will provide you with the basic skills for web development, IT for business and the fundamentals for the networking industry.
You will be assessed by formal examination, course project practical work, research projects and essay style assignments. You will be expected to complete a significant amount of your study in your time away from college, as is expected on this level of course in preparation for the independent study you will undertake at University level.
You will receive the opportunity to work with employers on set live projects and or undertake a placement during your time at college.
This course is aimed at progression to university. However, you may decide to apply for employment after this course.
