Course programme
This course is ideal if you wish to progress on to higher education in humanities or social science subjects such as law, sociology, psychology, history, english literature, philosophy, social work etc. Degree level qualifications in these areas can lead to employment in areas such as teaching, social work, psychotherapy, youth work, local government, human resources, the police force, legal professions such as solicitor or barrister, journalism, and social research.
This course provides a fast track route into higher education if you don't have formal qualifications. You will usually have some life experience beyond compulsory education, normally having been out of compulsory education for two years or more. The objective of the course is to provide a supportive and friendly environment to enable you to develop your potential and to prepare you for university level study, with many past students going on to gain degrees and other awards.
You will study a selection of subjects such as sociology, psychology, history and english literature. You will also study key skills units in communication, numeracy and ICT.
