Course programme
Access will help you to develop the skills and self-confidence you will need to return to studying and progress to Degree level study.
It is a very challenging but rewarding course which will broaden your skills and understanding within Art and Design. At all stages you will be encouraged to adopt an innovative, creative and personal approach to your work in order to build an individual portfolio for application to higher education.
Guidance and help is given to the preparation and application of under graduate courses and to the selection from a wide range of art subjects to find the appropriate institutions that will best suit your career intentions.
You will be introduced to Drawing, Painting, Photography, 3D Sculpture and Design, Digital art, Textiles and Contextual studies before specializing in your chosen field of interest.
Students will develop their study skills, lateral thinking and analytical understanding of artworks across the broad spectrum of art and design.
Weekly tutorial support will help build confidence in your work, time management skills and to give guidance about degree courses.
Visiting speakers and guest lectures from Professional artist also enhance the programme of study.
Entry Requirements
- You must be at least 19 years of age and have GCSE English Language (or Literature) and maths at grade C or above (or equivalent). It is not possible to do GCSEs alongside the Access course.
- A portfolio of recent work and sketch book of ideas will be required at interview to assess your suitability for the course.
- All applicants are advised to take responsibility for checking entry requirements for their chosen degree course before applying for the Access course.
