This course is for you if you are interested in any form of Engineering including Medical, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, Structural, Chemical, Petroleum, Architectural, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in addition to Quantity Surveying and related disciplines.
The course provides foundation knowledge with experience of laboratory practical work in addition to equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed at university. It is a one year full time programme taught over 2 semesters, which is recognized by universities as a preparation for entry to degree programmes.

Course programme

To achieve the Level 3 diploma in Engineering you will study a total of 60 credits over a single academic year. All students must study academic skills (the toolkit needed for success at university) in addition to a choice of units based on your chosen degree course. The course develops crucial academic skills (such as scientific writing, time management, research and referencing) in addition to delivering a sound knowledge and understanding to enable you to progress to University and to be successful in the professional career of your choice. Your course tutors are subject specialist and are committed to enhancing your awareness of employability skills and opportunities within the region. Academic skills units are assessed on coursework. Specialist units including Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Mathematical subjects will be assessed by a mixture of coursework and formal examination in preparation for university degree courses. All work is internally moderated and externally moderated by assessors from the awarding body Certa. Horsforth Campus, laboratories, classrooms and computer suites. The Access to HE Engineering diploma is recognized by universities for entry to a variety of engineering programmes including those at Leeds, Huddersfield, Sheffield and Bradford. If you are aged 19 or over and considering enrolling on a further education course at Level 3 or above, you may be entitled to an Advanced Learner Loan to help with course fees.
