Course programme

3. Entry requirements Two suitable references and working mainly at Level 2 English and working mainly at Level 1 Maths. As the course is intensive and demanding it is important to have had some recent study or be able to demonstrate the ability to cope with study at this level. Applicants should be highly self-motivated and aware of the financial personal and social implications of returning to study. This means a commitment to hard work for the duration of the programme and an aptitude for independent study. This programme is not intended for students seeking an alternative route into higher education having recently studied A Levels GCSEs or similar programmes. It is expected that applicants will have had several years experience out of formal education before applying. Students whose second language is English should ideally have passed to at least Level 1 the First Certificate in English - F.C.E. (although those who have achieved the P.E.T. Cambridge Certificate may also be considered). You will be invited to an interview and be informed about the Access programme. You will undertake a short written task and you will also be required to undertake an English and Maths assessment to ascertain your current level of skill. With these results together with your personal interview we will be able to recommend a programme of learning which will help you achieve your long term goals. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Learners will be assessed on a continuous basis both formally and informally throughout the course. Assessment methods will be flexible and creative and will echo those used in Higher Education.
