If you dont already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, you can study a level 2 course for free. These courses may also be free for people on means-tested benefits.

Course Content: The course covers a number of academic topics and skills, including English, Numeracy, Social Sciences, Personal Development and Academic Writing Skills.

Special Features: The course is assessed on a continuous basis, as opposed to end-of-year examination. Assessment is via class-based activities, home-based assignments, practical reports and short tests. This continuous assessment means that you can monitor your progress as you work through the programme.

Course Format: The activities undertaken encourage discussion and group work wherever possible. Where relevant, links are made to other disciplines, e.g. Teaching, Social Work, Humanities and Nursing.

Progression: The course provides you with a Level 2 qualification which is recognised by employers and other organisations and may well lead to various career opportunities. It is also an avenue to progress to Level 3 courses at Tameside College.
