Are you interested in gaining a nationwide qualification in order to apply to universities and colleges to study a degree in the Social Sciences? If you have not yet gained the mandatory qualifications necessary to entry to higher education, this course provided by The Distance Learning Centre is the perfect choice.

The centre has more than 20 years of experience providing Access Courses which are completely flexible. Therefore, the programme and subjects may vary on your needs, previous qualifications and objectives.

Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, you will be able to apply for degrees in the following areas: Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology, Politics and Economics.

Therefore, the course can lead to a career working in a wide variety of sectors such as education, the charity and voluntary sector, the health sector, journalism, research, or public relations.

Training materials can be downloaded from the DLC webpage and personal tutors will provide advice through internet and phone calls.

Fiona Johnston

Fiona has a BA (Hons) in Applied Community Studies and worked for Social Services as a residential social worker before doing her Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), she then worked for a number of years teaching Access to HE and A levels in an FE college. Fiona then worked for the Open College Network North West Region (now known as Open Awards), which was an Access to HE Validating Agency/Awarding Body, as the lead for Access to HE programmes and worked with local and national colleagues, including FE and HE partners writing and developing Access to HE units of accreditation.
