What will I do?
Successful completion of this course offers students an alternative route into the midwifery profession. Midwifery training takes place locally at Anglia Ruskin University, although you can also study at Greenwich University.
It is essential that you have a GCSE in Maths, or equivalent, and this is built into the course. The compulsory specialist subject is Human Biology; students must choose a second specialist subject from Psychology, Sociology or English Literature.
It is necessary for students to complete a Core Studies programme in order to achieve the requisite number of credits to gain the Access to Midwifery Diploma.
Assessment
Students are assessed through a mixture of coursework, essays, projects, presentations and in-class tests.
Progression
After successfully completing the course, students may progress on to the Degree in Midwifery or other related health occupations.
How long is the course?
One year (34 weeks)
Daytime only between 9.30am and 3.00pm, 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday. SEEVIC College follows school half-terms.
This course can be studied on a part-time basis over two years. The classes are during the day and your attendance requirements can be discussed with the course leader.
