Course content

  • Create table relationships and default joins, prevent incomplete or inconsistent data by establishing referential integrity, set and use Cascading updates and deletions.
  • Link to tables in other databases, import from and export to other data sources such as text files or Excel spreadsheets.
  • Create conditional expressions using theIIFfunction, concatenate text fields to improve display, use domain aggregate functions such asDSUMandDLOOOKUPto summarise or retrieve records.
  • Create Main/Sub Forms to display table data with One-To-Many relationships, add and work with form controls such as combo boxes and command buttons, use Events for these controls so that forms can be opened or closed and to synchronise the display of data across forms.
  • Create macros to automate operations in a database, create grouped Macros, use conditional Macros to validate user input, customise the keyboard function keys.
  • Create data access pages for displaying database content in web pages.
  • Add custom toolbars and Menus to a Database to create a database Application, create a Main form to act as the front-end for a database.
  • Change startup properties to hide the database Window, and to remove the built-In toolbar and menu.
