To provide delegates with the knowledge and decision making ability to perform the role of Designated Person within their particular authority. Suitable for: Designated Persons' are senior managers who are responsible for authorising notices and authorisations for the acquisition of communications data. These managers will hold specified offices within their organisations but will not necessarily be familiar with the SPOC environment.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course delegates will be able to: -

Have basic knowledge how communications data is generated (mobile phone, landline, internet, etc.)

Understand what communications data is and what is available

Understand the impact of Human Rights legislation, and the tests for necessity, proportionality and collateral intrusion in relation to applications under RIPA

Understand the role and function of designated person within the application and cancellation process
