Modules may include:
Advanced taxation
You will be able to calculate the tax liability for sole traders, partners and limited companies. You will also be able to advise individuals on taxation issues including inheritance tax planning.
Cash and Credit Management
This module will provide a critical introduction to the challenges faced by organisations to ensure the ongoing liquidity of the organisation. The liquidity includes the granting of credit and collection of debt to aid in strengthening the liquidity.
Economics and the finance sector
This module aims to develop your knowledge of accountancy and economics on a national and global level so you are able to critically analyse the role of labour and financial markets whilst evaluating the need for government intervention where the market mechanism fails.
Research skills
You will develop essential research skills and techniques and the ability to think in a creative, analytical and logical way in order to acquire and create knowledge,
Dissertation
The module aims to provide an opportunity to independently research an organisation of your choice from a financial and ethical interest. You will develop independent learning skills and a capacity for sustained individual effort with critical evaluation You will develop skills already achieved in the Foundation Degree and apply these to contemporary business issues applicable today. Your study will be a mixture of academic modules and those which enhance your personal development and employability skills. The theoretical aspects are complemented by practical elements ensuring comprehensive understanding and application in the working environment. This course will be delivered at our University Centre (formerly known as College House). This programme is predominately offered to those students who wish to continue their studies after successful completion the Foundation Degree in Accountancy or other relevant discipline. The standard entry requirement is a Merit at Foundation Degree level from a UK Institution.
In the absence of formal learning qualifications applications are welcomed from persons who can demonstrate relevant work experience, including work in a voluntary capacity. The course structure actively supports claims for Accreditation of Certificated Learning.
For those not in employment discussions will take place before being accepted on to the course to determine the relevance of previous work experience.
International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria. Speakers of other languages will need to possess an IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no-less than 5.5 in any one element) or a recognised English Level 2 qualification. This course puts you on the track to qualifying as a professional accountant, or offers you exciting opportunities in employment. You can progress on to one of the major professional accountancy bodies such as ACCA, CIMA and ICAEW’. You can enter a wide variety of stimulating and financially rewarding occupations, including accounting, stockbroking, financial services and management. The kind of careers you could enter into include: Trainee Chartered Accountant, Accountant, Finance Assistant, Finance Clerk.
