You will complete 5 computer based assessments set throughout the year, which include a range of question types and formats in the assessment. For instance, these may include multiple-choice questions, numeric gap-fill questions, or question tools that replicate workplace activities, such as making entries in a journal. Some assessments require a written answer, and this is particularly so in the synoptic assessments.
Apprentices must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. The synoptic assessment tests apprentice’s understanding of connections between the different topics covered across the qualification.
To achieve the qualification and to be awarded a grade, a student must pass all the mandatory unit assessments and the synoptic assessment. Unit assessments and synoptic assessments are not individually graded. These assessments are given a mark that is used in calculating the overall grade, as detailed below:
Grade definition: Percentage threshold: Distinction 90–100% Merit 80–89% Pass 70–79%
For computer-marked assessments, provisional results will be available straight after the assessment.
