About this course

The aim of the programme is to balance theoretical knowledge with practical application to allow you to develop a critical and questioning approach to the wide range of issues and opportunities faced by accountants in their working environment. It will allow you to understand the conceptual underpinnings of the various areas associated with the role accounting plays in everyday business.

This programme and the exemptions obtained allow you to benefit from a reduction in the time and the cost involved with qualifying as Chartered Certified Accountants. Completion of the programme will gain you eight exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), as well as exemptions from CIMA. You will also have the opportunity to experience student life as part of the larger accounting and finance department in a vibrant, global focused university.

This is a top-up programme only available to students who have undertaken the equivalent of 240 credits at levels 4 and 5.

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications where the previous professional qualifications or experience are within an accounting and finance role.

English language

If English is not your first language, an IELTS core of 6.0 (including a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent is normally required.

Programme content is aligned with the requirements of four of the ACCA Applied Skills papers. This allows you to claim a total of eight ACCA Applied level exemptions upon the successful completion of your degree:

Accountant in Business
Management Accounting
Financial Accounting
Corporate and Business Law
Performance Management

Completion of the Accounting BSc (Hons) programme will also allow you to claim exemptions for eight CIMA exams (up to and including the Operational level case study).
