Course overview This Apprenticeship framework can be studied if an individual is working within an accounts department or a role where they are helping a business or organsiation manage their money properly. Accountants have to be acute with business as well as numbers. Accounting itself is a highly skilled profession, with accounting staff working at different levels. Apprentices will take accounting qualifications relevant to their Apprenticeship level. Apprentices who qualify as accounting technicians might work as accounts assistants, credit control clerks, accounts clerks or finance assistants, all helping accountants to keep financial records and prepare accounts. Typical skills sets include balancing accounts, processing invoices and payments, completing VAT returns and helping to prepare financial statements and reports. Apprenticeships are a tested way of training either a new or existing team member. An apprenticeship will provide on-the-job training which leads to an employee gaining a nationally recognised qualification which has been developed by the Sector Skills Council. The Apprenticeship framework will include the following elements; • Accounting (AAT) – Level 2 Certificate • Mathematics – Level 1 • English – Level 1 • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills • Employment Rights and Responsibilities Entry requirements An employee/apprentice must be over 16 years of age with no prior level 4 qualifications or above working a minimum of 30 contracted hours per week in an appropriate occupational role
