The act4tv Curriculum

You may be completely new to TV acting or you may have worked in the industry for a while – with a wide range of classes available, act4tv has a course for YOU!

We understand that everyone starts at a different place and that everyone will progress at various rates. For this reason we run a number of varied classes, each concentrating on the fundamentals of TV acting.

Class Times

5P.M – 7P.M

7P.M – 9P.M

All classes are week days.

Module One – 26 Weeks

Our principle aim at act4tv is to equip an artist with the knowledge, experience and confidence required to attend a TV casting and hopefully obtain the role they’re auditioning for. With this in mind, ‘Module One’ looks at the core elements involved in acting for TV and acting for audition, including:

Delivering idents and chatting to camera.
Acting technique and delivery.
Cold reading of scripts.
Learning and understanding a scene in under 15 minutes.
Improvising for camera.
*All classes are 100% practical.

Module Two – ‘Showcase’ – 13 Weeks

Upon graduation from ‘Module One’, students will be invited to audition to take part in a ‘showcase’ module. This module runs for a 3 month period at the end of which the artists then perform in front of leading industry professionals, including casting directors, agents and producers.

The ‘showcase’ is highly innovative and unique in that performances are filmed live and transmitted on multiple TV screens at a city centre public house. The idea being that the artist’s performance must be interesting, captivating and watchable on screen as it would be if transmitted on national TV.

Industry professionals are then invited to select artists to see again for a round of quick-fire, one minute improvisations with scenarios being given by the professionals themselves. Artists have no time to plan and just one minute to shine!

This format has proven to be very successful and well attended by industry professionals.

Modules Three & Four – 16 Weeks

‘Module Three’ is all about acting on set.

This module follows the ‘showcase’ and allows the artist to understand and perform on set in order to produce a short film. The students will work with established writers and crew, with the goal of producing short films of festival quality. Films will be entered into festivals and competitions to increase exposure for those involved.

As an added bonus students will also act alongside invited well-known high profile TV / Film actors.

Modules Five – COMING SOON!

‘Module Five’ is an exciting new module that we believe will definitely enhance an actors’ profile and provide proven ability. Details will be made available VERY SOON!
