"An actuary works in areas where the calculation of probabilities and statistics are fundamental such as finance, banking and economics. The profession of the actuary, although still little known in Italy, can be considered one of the most interesting and requested in the world of work, particularly in the insurance, financial and social security sectors, with opportunities also in the corporate sector. The actuary bases his skills on mathematics, the calculation of probabilities, the finance on which risk assessment models are based, such as the calculation of insurance rates and the assessment of the technical balance of pension funds and corporate risks. The profession of actuary is regulated in Italy by Law no. 194 ""Legal discipline of the actuary profession"" published in the Official Gazette no. 69 of 25 March 1942. Law no. 4/1999 also provided for two distinct professional figures: the “Actuary” (section A of the register) and the “Junior Actuary” (section B of the register).
