This course teaches delegates to author structured documents using FrameMaker+SGML. It describes how to work with a structured template to edit existing documents or create new documents from scratch using pre-defined templates.

This class assumes no prior experience with FrameMaker+SGML or other FrameMaker products. Basic computer literacy, including knowledge of the operating system and keyboard and mouse skills, are required.

· General authoring and editing techniques to include working with special characters, editing text, adding and deleting Text
· Using the Clear and undo commands; Cutting, Copying and Pasting
· Setting file and viewing preferences
· Quick ways to move around the document window and the structured view
· Saving Documents as PDF and HTML
· Using the Spelling Checker and Find and Change options
· Working with a Structured document by means of manipulating Elements and viewing Attributes
· Displaying and setting the Element Catalog
· Working with Context Menus
· Editing Structure by moving Elements, wrapping and unwrapping Elements, merging and splitting Elements
· Understanding what an Attribute is and how to edit them
· Inserting new Elements and Attributes using the mouse and keyboard short-cuts
· Importing a Structured Flow into an existing structured document and fixing any problems
