We have three classes a week (all are 2.5hrs duration)
Tuesday mornings 10am-12.30pm
Tuesday evening 7pm-9.30pm
Friday afternoon 1.30pm-4pm
Our pottery courses are suitable for all levels of ability & knowledge. From beginners to advanced our tutor, Maria, will cover all aspects of hand building and the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. Throughout the course you will learn how to use and experiment with our glazes, including the use of oxides, stains and under-glazes.
A beginner can expect to learn : how to create your own stamps for texturing and patterning clay, pinch pots, tiles coiling, slab work and throwing on the potter's wheel to make a bowl, vase, jug and a plate.
An intermediate can expect to learn : carved relief work, piercing, applique and throwing on the potter's wheel. Looking at texture and applique to make a number of vessels. Also developing your knowledge and experimentation of glazing.
Advanced potters can expect to learn : developing skills using porcelain clay, scraffito, agate ware, slip casting, slip trailing, throwing on the potter's wheel and an introduction to sculpture. Creating and developing your own work using any, or a combination of, the four methods of working with clay and developing your knowledge and experimentation of glazing.
