If you are over 16, an Apprenticeship allows you to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst working in paid employment. Your programme will last approximately 24 months depending on your age.

About this course
For the first year of your Apprenticehsip you will attend college for one day per week in order complete the knowledge and understanding element of your trade. Following on in to your second year, you will be assessed in the workplace by your allocated college assessor.

The Advanced Apprenticeship framework programme consists of four elements:
Knowledge element
This element will enable you to learn the essential plumbing knowledge to take into the workplace. There is 1 mandatory unit:
• Understand how to organise resources in building services engineering
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
You will complete a workbook which covers all aspects of your rights and responsibilities.
Diploma NVQ
You will complete the above Diploma at Level 3 which will be assessed in the work place by a college assessor and will recognise your workplace competence.
• Understand and carry out electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems and components.
• Install, commission, service and maintain domestic plumbing and heating.
• Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques.
• Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques.
• Understand and apply domestic cold central heating installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques.
• Understand and apply domestic sanitation system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques.
Key Skills
If you do not have the required GCSE grades, you will complete key skills, both in the College and the workplace, and you may be required to take an exam depending on your current qualifications in:
• English 2
• Maths 2
• ICT 1
On completion of the four elements above you will be accredited with an Apprenticeship Certificate.
