This programme is suitable for those employed within the sector as an independent technician, workshop supervisors or demonstrator. A good understanding of workshop parts, products or equipment is required and good supervisory and customer service skills.
Venue
Work based with college attendance for eight, one week blocks over one year. Up to three weeks extra attendance may be required for functional skills.
Entry Criteria
Intermediate Apprenticeship in Land-based Engineering or level 2 Diploma in Work-based Land based Engineering is required and entry is subject to a thorough initial assessment to clarify course appropriateness. Entrants must have the ability to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics and IT and be able to cope with the Level 3 vocational qualification. Apprentices must have a contract of employment working for a minimum for 30 hours/week.

The Apprenticeship is made up of a number of different nationally recognised qualifications:
Combined Competence and Knowledge Qualification:
Level 3 Edexcel Diploma in Work based Land-based Engineering Operations.
Learners can choose from Agricultural or Ground Care pathways
Functional Skills:
Level 2 English
Level 2 Mathematics
Level 2 ICT
Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Delivered and assessed through a workbook
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
Assessment and recognition through a Record of Achievement
Additional Qualification Requirements:
Safe use of Abrasive Wheels
Progression
Apprentices successfully completing the Advanced Apprenticeship have the opportunity to progress within the industry by progressing to Higher Education Courses such as Foundation Degree or Degree (BSc).
Possible Careers/ Jobs
Apprentices looking to progress in their employment from the Advanced Apprenticeship may be able to work towards managerial positions. Progression may depend on the qualifications and experience an individual possesses.
