Course programme
The Advanced Certificate in Banking Services is a follow up qualification from the Higher Certificate in Banking Services and therefore builds on the basic concepts of banking to cover more intermediate banking topics.
The Advanced Certificate in Banking Services will allow you to broaden your banking knowledge, and based on this, could offer you potential career prospects as a junior manager in retail or business banking. The typical student on this qualification is an individual with an NQF 5 qualification, coupled with some banking experience.
Once you finish this qualification, you will be familiar with banking and business law, and understand the banking system as a whole. You will also be able to apply the basic principles of ethics and risk management within the banking sector. In addition, you will be able to operate on a day-to-day basis in selected disciplines, i.e. sales, credit, human resources, finance, etc.
CAREERS
The banking sector has evolved into an industry that employs highly skilled individuals. Today, degreed individuals are preferred for many entry level jobs and an undergraduate degree is no longer sufficient to climb the career ladder further. Solid knowledge in advanced banking concepts and how a bank operates as a business are required at a minimum. Apart from this, specialised knowledge of different areas of banking and analytical/research skills are expected from candidates applying for jobs in more senior roles.
