Study MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and gain invaluable skills in contemporary health care practice
Develop an educational framework that responds to current and future issues for advanced health care practice
Cultivate your critical thought, analysis and appraisal skills for advanced level decision-making and problem-solving
Study flexibly at a time and pace that suits you. Many of the modules are available through distance learning, and you can study individual modules as stand-alone. This will help you to increase your confidence and skills, and advance your continued professional development
Explore the complexity of advanced practice by working on specific areas of your clinical practice and leadership.
If you’re an advanced practitioner working in a health profession, or you are working towards advanced practice status in a role that involves high level decision-making and problem-solving, this course is for you.

There is a lot of flexibility in your choice of modules and in most cases you do not have to select all of your modules from a certain area. However, for some of the specialist modules, you may need to be working in a specific area or studied other modules first.

The course has been developed in partnership with NHS colleagues, partners and professional bodies from across the health care sector. For example the Advanced Clinical Practitioner route offers selected modules which have been linked to the Department of Health (2010) competency statement and proficiencies, so you can be sure to receive learning that will benefit your service delivery and enhance the care you give to patients.

About this course

The courses have been developed to reflect the philosophies of Advanced Practice within the ethos of current health care provision in the UK, therefore your studies will be fit for purpose and informed by current standards.

You may wish to progress to a doctorate level of study, gain entry on to postgraduate medical programmes or become partners in GP practices. Many students go on to develop, specialise in, and lead the implementation of health care services including health care improvement, osteoporosis and falls services including fracture liaison or bone densitometry services and the variety of ultrasound provision.

The course is diverse and innovative, so you could use the skills and knowledge you've gained to work within the public and private sectors. The flexibility of the course ensures that your own personal interests are met as well as those of your employer (if appropriate).

Each award has specific entry criteria therefore please contact the programme leader initially. Usually a First degree or equivalent (such as a professional healthcare qualification with appropriate experience in the chosen field) is required. However we are willing to consider prior academic learning at degree level from a health care background, where a first degree has not been fully obtained.
