Four Day workshop(Two Part)
This course promises to bring about a reawakening and an awareness to an inner connection that we can establish not only within ourselves but with our patients too. It will not be a four day course of endless techniques and concepts, but a time to develop an inner rapport that if nurtured will lead to transformational change within your clinical practice and yourself. It will be a time for reflection and focus upon how we as human beings interact with our internal and external environment. This is not a subject that can be easily read about - but a process that is perhaps digested best through experience. Hence, the advanced course method of learning will be both experiential and too a degree self -directed. It will be based on anatomy and physiology; in fact more accurately it will be based on your anatomy and physiology. Listening skills cultivated on previous courses, will be turned inward, with the intention of bringing your subconscious non-verbal communication skills within yourself and your patients to a deeper more integrative level.
To put this within an NLP framework, it is stated that there are four stages of learning:
- Unconscious Incompetence. i.e. a state of ignorance
- Conscious Incompetence. i.e. you know what you want to do but you also know that you don't know how to do it.
- Conscious Competence. i.e. you are able to do it , but you still have to think about what you are doing.
- Unconscious Competence. i.e. you are able to do it , but without needing to consciously pay attention to what you are doing.
We a re aiming for level four. By Listening, watching, feeling, or getting a sense how the various systems (visceral, endocrine, vascular etc) communicate with one another at the deepest of levels within ourselves, in essence 'being a light unto ourselves', we can experience an inner connection that is not being driven by conscious awareness. Once cultivated, this 'connectedness' becomes free flowing, not only within ourselves but with any other living system.
