Course Summary:
This part-time course aims to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for a career as a sports massage therapist, either employed or self-employed. On completion, you will obtain the qualification required to gain insurance to practise as a sports massage therapist.
You will study in a class-based and practical setting, with the expectation that a further 50% of practice and study is done in your own time. There will be a four-week assessment block at the end of the course.

Course programme

Course Content: The qualification comprises all the elements needed to work effectively and efficiently as a sports massage therapist. These include anatomy and physiology, professional practice, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness, and how to provide sports massage treatments. How will I be assessed? Learners will be assessed through a range of methods including: presentations reports exams practical assessment discussion Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You may wish to purchase your own massage equipment, fold-away beds and oils in order to practise. This is not, however, a requirement of the course as you will have access to this equipment while you study. An adult learner loan can be taken out to cover the course fees. Learners who complete this qualification will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage therapist.
