The programme is renowned for providing excellent tutorial support to ensure students can relate module content to their individual practice setting.

Lecturers maintain ‘cutting edge’ knowledge of policy developments related to Advanced Practice through their membership of national committees and international consultations with health care colleagues.

Lecturing staff are involved with research and publications related to advanced practice and other senior roles.

Health professionals will be able to use the course to develop their knowledge and skills in health care and to expand their own educational roles. Furthermore, teaching will be directed to enabling the development of analytical skills so students can critically examine practices within the contexts of the legislative and professional frameworks of their own countries.

The modules will enable students to explore their employment situation and the potential for career progression in relation to the theoretical ideas put forward in these modules and to identify ways in which they may improve practice and services or pioneer new developments.

In addition the choice offered by three awards provides opportunities to pursue particular profession specific topics in greater depth. The modules incorporate the concept of ethical practice and the role of the advanced practice professional in creating and maintaining an ethical working environment; legal dimensions of practice will also be addressed.

About this course

Our Advance Practice programme is designed for individuals who are employed in health related settings. Your main working remit may involve research, management, teaching and other non-clinical roles.
This multi-professional, clinically focused course provides an internationally recognised Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Master’s award. The course is suitable and relevant to all practitioners who want to retain an influence on clinical care but may also like to have more involvement with strategic development of services design and reconfiguration.
Improved knowledge and understanding of health policy promotes confidence and involvement in wider debates within the practice arena and involvement with the formation of local and national policy.
Gaining a deeper understanding of patients and the population you are involved with means that you are likely to become engaged in influencing changes in practice delivery leading to more effective and efficient services.
