The course is for students who have achieved average grades in their GCSEs particularly in Science, maths and English and who have a dedicated interest in the care and welfare of animals.Over the two years the course is equivalent to two A Levels and is ideal for those wishing to gain employment within the Animal Management sector or entry into Higher Education at Kirkley Hall or higher education providers.

The recommended entry requirements are: A level 2 Diploma in Animal Care or 4 GCSEs grade C or above to include English, maths and Science.

What will I study on the course?
You will cover a variety of exciting units including:
- Animal Health
- Animal Biology
- Management of Exotics
- Animal Welfare and Breed Development
- Animal Handling
- Animal Feeding and Accommodation.
You will be expected to complete one day every three weeks of engaging industrial experience at the expanding College zoo, this can be included within the total of 150 hours of actual work experience each year needed for the course, some of which can be carried out on an external placement.
