History

We were set up in 1998 and are one of the longest standing and most experienced MiDAS Training Agents. We can help you with any aspect of training in the field of minibuses and accessible vehicles.

Advantages of studying here

In terms of risk the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) take the view that probably the most dangerous thing most people do on a day to day basis is drive on the road.In their publication 'Driving at Work' they state that up to 20 deaths and 250 serious injuries occur each week involving people who are driving as part of their work (or volunteering). The general gist is that if any organisation expects their staff, or volunteers, to drive, travel or ride on the road they should have in place reasonable measures that manage the risks associated with that. This has long been known as MORR, or Managing Occupational Road Risk and should include formal procedures to train, and assess the competence of, staff and volunteers. This has always been important but with the advent of the Corporate Mansluaghter and Corporate Homicde Acts that came into force in April 2008 it has become even more pressing.

Areas of specialisation

We can also arrange other courses such as MEEP, which is the Minibus Emergency Evacuation Procedures course. This looks at what Drivers and Passenger Assistants might be able to do if the vehicle catches fire.

Description

We provide the full range of MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) courses for both Trainers and Drivers/Passenger Assistants (Escorts). This includes MiDAS for Minibus Drivers, MiDAS for Car and MPV drivers and the Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS).Organisations can ask us to come to their site and do the training for thier on-road staff/volunteers, subject to facilities and reasonable numbers, or they can nominate one or more people to become in-house trainers within the different training programmes. All of the training programmes include both theory and practical elements and have versions for Standard, fully seated vehicles as well as modules that cover working with passengers with disabilities and safely using wheelchair accessible vehicles.
