About this course

This course allows you to learn photography in an enjoyable way. You will achieve a Coleg Gwent Certificate in photography, but the emphasis for the course is on building on existing skills and enjoying photography.


You will study:


In class workshops:



  • 35mm film photography, including shooting 35mm film, developing film and scanning

  • Medium format film, including shooting medium format film, developing film and scanning

  • Large format film, including shooting large format film, developing film and scanning


With weekly briefs, including:



  • Experimental imagery

  • Mounting/displaying photography

  • Cyanotypes – chemical and digital

  • Responding to text

  • Conceptual photography

  • Macro photography

  • Low light photography

  • Experimental studio

  • Star/light trail photography
