Type
PhD
Current work at Cranfield University is developing methods for the design of aero-engine intakes for podded engine configurations. The overall aim of the PhD research is to develop tools, experience and design guidance in the design of future aero-engine intakes in association with fan systems for future ultra-high bypass engine configurations. The main activities are expected to include design studies, novel parameterisation approaches, intake aerodynamic assessments and the investigation of methods to reduce the computational requirements for the aero-line optimization such as through response surface methods, reduced geometric parameterization or multi-fidelity approaches.
