Where next ? Students who achieve an overall grade of a pass at Level 3 will need to work or gain an apprenticeship in the industry for a period of 1 year before being able to study a HND in Aerospace Engineering. Students who achieve a Merit or Distinction at Level 3 can choose whether they wish to continue their studies by studying a HND in Aerospace Engineering at Central Sussex College or to apply for University course to gain a full degree. Course programme
Aerospace Engineering relates to all that is aircraft or spacecraft related. It is rapidly becoming one of Britain's growing industries with most of the big companies are based in the south east. It is one of the most diverse industries to work in terms of career opportunities such as research, development, testing, production and maintenance.
Here at Central Sussex College you will take your first steps into your career by learning in a practical environment complete with actual planes, simulators and engines. You will learn about the electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems that support flight and get inside the cockpit to explore aircraft instruments and indicators.

Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:
- Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.
- English and Maths – Every learner will work towards Level 2 English and Maths (C grade equivalent). Learners who have achieved a Grade C will extend their English and Maths.
- 3E – Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training.
You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or straight into employment.
