Overview At a glance This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in amenity horticulture. It is not a suitable pathway for horticultural trades. Application Mode Distance Courses/Units Sixteen (16) units must be successfully completed - two (2) core unit and fourteen (14) elective units. Availability Distance Education DurationCompleted over two (2) years Intake Dates Enrolments are taken throughout the year on a continuous basis. Hours of Study Approximately 1065 hours of study time will be involved however, the training duration will depend on the electives and study mode selected. Students will be required to undertake self- directed study and assignments outside campus attendance time. Career Opportunities Possible employment options include: Horticulture worker, Horticulture assistant, Horticulturist, Gardener. Entry Requirements It is h ighly recommended that students have attained a Sound Achievement (SA) result in year 10 numeracy and literacy subjects or equivalent prior to enrolling in this program. Ideally students should have some exposure to the industry either through work experience or employment in a field related to the horticulture industry. Offerings Distance / Blended
This course is available by distance with blended delivery; students will have the opportunity to attend workshops currently in Rockhampton. Workshops may be scheduled in other locations.
Work Placement: This program does not include a Vocational Placement component but it is highly recommended that students seek out and participate in work placement or be employed in the related industry.
Delivery Method: This course is delivered using a blended model where students will progress through learning material and assessment booklets. Students in the Rockhampton region will have the opportunity to attend workshops. Workshops may be scheduled in other locations.
