America Into the 20th Century

This is the amazing story of America’s rise to world superpower status, traced from the First World War through to the Millennium. Events examined will include, The Depression and The New Deal, World War Two and The Cold War. People we shall encounter along the way include Al Capone, FDR and MacArthur, JFK and Martin Luther King. With William Tyler. William Tyler is committed to spreading the idea that learning is for life and has spent his whole professional life in adult education. His was the Principal of The City Lit, Britain’s largest college of adult education. He now has a freelance career including lecturing, public speaking, writing and consultancy. His abiding interest lies in History, Local History and Folklore, on which he speaks and writes widely. Thursday mornings 10.30am-12.30pm
