Our MSc Analytical Bioscience provides hands-on experience and training in a wide range of analysis techniques and instrumentation used in the molecular biosciences, biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors. It is designed to allow flexibility in attendance requirements and offers the opportunity to complete a novel research project in one of our excellent research laboratories.

About this course

Graduates go on to careers in the health sector, academic research, toxicology and pharmaceuticals. Possible professions include analytical chemist, biomedical scientist, research scientist (life sciences), or toxicologist. This degree can also be useful in becoming a clinical research associate, science writer, or scientific laboratory technician.

A second-class honours degree (2:2) or above in a scientific subject. Less qualified students may be accepted if they have appropriate work experience, or through registration on the Postgraduate Diploma with the possibility of upgrading to the MSc after achieving appropriate results in the first set of examinations.

Course programme

COURSE STRUCTURE

You take four compulsory modules of 15 credits each and choose two 30-credit option modules. You also undertake a 60-credit research project.

Full-time students complete all of the above components in one year.

Part-time students complete two compulsory modules and an option module in Year 1, and two compulsory modules, one option module and the research project in Year 2.
