The apprenticeship programme offers individuals the opportunity to train towards a recognised qualification whilst being in paid employment in a range of settings including: kennels, catteries, rescue centres, grooming salons, pet shops and many more.

To qualify for an apprenticeship you have to have found employment within the animal management/welfare industry.

You will attend college for one day per week for 15 weeks to cover the knowledge required to gain your technical certificate. College attendance will either be at Pershore or Moreton Morrell.

The duration of the course is 2 years. 

By completing an apprenticeship you will be able to gain knowledge and practical experience in your workplace. T he pathways available within this qualification include animal care and welfare, zoos/wildlife establishments, dog grooming, pet care and retail and animal training.

C&G Level 3 Diploma Animal Care

How will I be assessed?

Practical and theorerical knowledge will be assessed by a qualified Warwickshire College staff member.

What is the entry process?

Submit an application form and attend an interview.

 

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Full level 2

Four GCSE's at Grade C or above including English Language, Maths and/or Science or equivalent qualifications and experience. 

Aged 16+ (funding dependent of age and prior qualifications

Experience of working full-time within the Animal Welfare/Management industry for a minimum of one year in a position of responsibility.

What else do I need to know?

You can only complete an apprenticeship if you are employed for 30 hours mimimum per week at National Minimum Wage for apprenticeships.  Please see link for more details www.apprenticeships.org.uk

What can I do after this course?

Students may find that this qualification will allow them to progress in their present employment or may consider the opportunity to start their own buisness.

Successful completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship may allow progression on to Higher Education courses in Animal Welfare.
