Formerly known as an NVQ, this course is aimed at applicants who are working within the animal welfare/management industry.  Throughout this course there is the opportunity for you to specialise in the area within which you are working and gain a qualification.  The different routes available within this qualification include animal care and welfare, zoos/wildlife establishments, dog g rooming, pet care and retail, animal training.

Applicants need to be in paid or voluntary employment for at least 16 hours per week.

How will I be assessed?

Practical and theorerical knowledge will be assessed by a qualified Warwickshire College staff member.What is the entry process?

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Not applicable

No formal qualifications are required, but you will be asked to complete an initial assessment in Maths and English Language.

What else do I need to know?

This course is recommended for any one aged 19 years or over.

Funding for the Work Based Diploma will vary depending on age and previous qualifications.

Students are able to work at their own pace developing skills and completing assignments in the workplace. Maximum study period: 18 months.

 

What can I do after this course?

Students may find that this qualification helps them to progress in their present employment.  If in a voluntary placement, completion of this qualification could lead to employment.

Students can progress to the level 3 work based diploma qualification provided that they meet the entry criteria and have successfully completed their level 2 workbased programme.
