In order to support the highest levels of animal welfare, it is vital to have a good understanding of the way in which animal's bodies work, what supports good physical and mental health, and how to manage animals effectively in order to meet their needs. This three-year, modular-based course is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in animal health, welfare, or allied industries.Year one modules provide a foundation in anatomy, animal health and science. Students may opt to develop an underpinning understanding of either animal behaviour, or nutrition and breeding. Second year modules consolidate knowledge and understanding in animal health, habitat and management, and allow further study of either animal behaviour or reproduction. Students also develop the specialist skills required for their final year dissertation. In year three, students may opt to advance their understanding of nutrition or behaviour, and all students study animal welfare, ethics, and conservation and complete a dissertation.
