Do you have a passion for horses and an itch for societal developments? Do you want to make a difference in the international equine sector as an equine feed consultant, marketer, breeding expert or event manager? Then this challenging and fascinating study is for you.

The full-time Equine, Sports and Business study programme is part of the higher professional education (HBO) programme Animal Husbandry and offers you a unique focus combo of horses and business. During this study, you will engage with subjects such as nutrition, breeding, behaviour and well-being. You will also delve into subjects such as finance, management and marketing. In addition to this knowledge, you will also learn important skills such as networking, advising, planning and organising. In the meantime, you will automatically be part of the programme's extensive international network. You're in a class with students from all over the world. This means that the lessons will be given in English and you will be optimally prepared for work in the international sector.

The equine industry is growing rapidly worldwide, which offers plenty of opportunities. Developments in breeding, sport, recreation and business are following in short succession. The sector would like to show what is most important, namely respectful treatment of the horse. Everyone who works with horses feels responsible for the welfare of the animal, whether it involves top-flight sport or a hobby. Will you take the lead on this later?

Course programme

During your studies, you spend half of your time on everything to do with the horse itself. You learn about the nutrition, genetics, health and well-being of horses. The other half of your study time is devoted to the business side of the equestrian world. Courses such as marketing, finance, event management and business are part of this. Over the course of your studies, you can specialise fully in the track of your choice: you choose your own internships and a graduation placement that suit your interest.

Plenty of cooperation

During your studies, you will build up a network within the equestrian industry and meet professionals who, like you, have a passion for the profession. There are many equestrian events you can visit, you can of course volunteer at equestrian centres or join a breeding association. Because these contacts can help you find the job of your dreams, you will have enough opportunities to develop your own network during your studies. Van Hall Larenstein will be working closely with your future professional field. An example of this is the internship and graduation project: many students already find the job of their dreams here. All they have to do is graduate. Or what about collaborations with companies in which assignments from the business community are analysed in the lessons. You will therefore learn what really matters in business during your studies - and both you and your future employer are sure to profit from this!
