Course programme
In recent years, there has been considerable growth in the animal industry and an increasing need for well-qualified employees to work in this sector. This degree level course aims to provide the personal, academic and technical skills necessary for such a career. Its vocational focus will enable you to engage in work-based learning throughout your studies.
The following modules are indicative of the course structure:
Year one
You will study the following compulsory modules:
- Animal Behaviour
- Animal Genetics
- Animal Nutrition
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Animal Practice (includes work experience)
- Business Studies
- Introduction to Veterinary Science
- Introduction to Animal Biology (subject to previous qualifications).
Year two
You will study the following compulsory modules:
- Animal Management (to include 220 hours of work experience)
- Business Principles
- Ethics and Welfare
- Field Ecology
- Statistics and Research Methods.
Please note this structure is for the full-time course delivery only. For part-time delivery, the same modules will be studied over a longer period and the structure will differ.
