- Safe and effective working practices in land-based industries - this unit is concerned with learners following the correct procedures outlined by the employer, recommended codes of practice and current legislation and the workplace are also included.
- Develop performance in land-based industries - This unit enables the learner to gain experience of working as an effective team member. It also provides the learner with the opportunity to work alone, developing personal skills and performance.
- Animal Health - this unit covers the main principles of maintaining the health and well-being of animals and being able to assist and recognise potential animal emergency situations.
- Feeding and Watering Animals - this unit covers the basic requirements and principles for a learner to feed and water animals and to clean and maintain the equipment used to do this. Learners should be familiar with using various watering and feeding systems.
- Animal Accommodation - this unit covers the basic requirements and principles for a learner to select, prepare and maintain animal accommodation.
- Handling and Restraining Animals - most animals will require handling and restraining at some stage in their life. This unit covers how to assist a supervisor when handling, moving and restraining an animal.
