Study Method:
This two year full-time programme is validated by the University of East London (UEL) and has been written to give you an insight into the moving image industry and to develop skills used within it.

Who the Course is For:
If you are a creative individual with specific interests in traditional and/or computer generated animations, and who is interested in pursuing a career in animation or video production, this course is for you.
Foundation Degrees have an important work-based rationale and combine significant practical outcomes with an academic approach to study.

Assessment:
Assessment is through coursework, and is carried out by the course team and external examiners. A range of assessment methods are used across the various study areas including practical projects, presentations, written reports, portfolios, journals and observations.
Course Leads To:
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, you can proceed directly into the third year of the BA (Hons) Animation and Moving Image at UEL. Alternatively, the nationally recognised Foundation Degree qualification will enable you to progress onto a range of degree programmes at other institutions.
You will also have produced a portfolio of work that along with valuable skills and experience, will help you to pursue a career within your chosen field of Animation and Video Production.
Entry Requirements:
BTEC National Diploma or 2 A levels in related Art and Design subjects (120 UCAS points minimum), with GCSE English grade C or higher (or level 2 equivalent in Communication). Mature students with appropriate vocational experience will also be considered. Entry is through UCAS followed by an interview showing a portfolio of art and design work.
Content:
The first year of this practical based programme develops skills used in moving image projects. With emphasis on developing your competence and confidence across a range of planning and production processes.
In addition to studio sessions in mark-making skills, storyboarding, character design and motion studies, students are introduced to industry standard software applications in fully equipped computer suites. Projects will include 2D, 3D and stop-motion animation and a short video assignment.
In the second year, you will continue to develop skills on the computer in digital 2D animation, 3D modelling and animation, and post-production video editing and compositing. Academic skills are developed to a higher level through exploring critical approaches to contemporary work.
