The anthropologist is a professional who studies man and his evolution in all its facets, both evolutionary and psychic. The anthropologist is therefore interested in everything that concerns the human being in behavior, mentality, socialization, analyzing the differences between the various ethnic groups and cultures. In the contemporary world, from an academic point of view, anthropology is divided, in the Italian tradition of studies, into two main areas: physical anthropology and the demo-ethno-anthropological disciplines. Given the enormous variety of phenomena that fall within the field of interest of this discipline and following historical evolutions of academic and non-academic configurations and policies relating to it, research directions proliferate and there is, consequently, a large variety of institutionalized subdisciplines in courses and specializations in universities around the world (to name but a few: visual anthropology; state anthropology; economic anthropology; Amazonian anthropology; development anthropology; organization anthropology, etc.). The large number of subdisciplines and fields of interest that characterize cultural and social anthropology owes its existence mainly to the crisis of two pillars of the theoretical constructions of both: the same concepts of "culture" and "society".
