Course programme
Building on your first year foundation in biological principles and practical laboratory skills, the second year develops practical skills in DNA molecular technology and immunotechnology and their applications in the land-based sector.
Other modules explore aspects of animal health and nutrition, ecology, crop protection, pollution and waste management and biomass technologies.
How Will I LearnTraditional lectures are supplemented by laboratory practicals and visits to biological research establishments, commercial bioscience companies and farms. To further develop your planning and research skills, you will conduct an individual practical investigation drawing on your knowledge and skills from across your second year studies.
Progression OpportunitiesUpon successful completion of the HND Applied Bioscience, students may apply to enter the third year of SRUC’s degree courses in Agricultural Bioscience or Applied Animal Science.
