NVQ Level 2 in Agriculture. (or its new equivalent - the Level 2 Workbased Diploma in Agriculture) Entry is subject to the applicant having a reasonable amount of practical experience within agriculture and is dependent on a successful interview and assessment.

Previous knowledge required: NVQ Level 2 in Agriculture. (or its new equivalent - the Level 2 Workbased Diploma in Agriculture) Entry is subject to the applicant having a reasonable amount of practical experience within agriculture and is dependent on a successful interview and assessment.
What will I study? The programme comprises of a range of units to include Livestock Husbandry and Management, Beef Production, Grassland and Environmental Management, Animal Nutrition, Health and Safety, Rural Accounts and Business Management.
What else will I do? All learners will receive tuition in Key Skills (Application of Number, Communications and Information Technology). These will be largely integrated into your main course. All students will attend college for one day per week in years 1 and 2. The remainder of the week will be spent on placement at a commercial farm gaining further practical skills and experience. Evidence will be gathered towards the Level 3 Workbased Diploma in Livestock Production and there will be the opportunity to complete a range of National Proficiency test Competency Certificates to include - Sheep Dips, Veterinary Medicines, Pesticides, Telescopic Handlers, ATV bikes and Chainsaws.
How will I be assessed? Learners will be assessed throughout the course by practical and written assessments and assignments. The level 3 Workbased Diploma also involves an external examination.
What will I achieve? OCN Units in Beef Production, Rural Accounts and Business Management. City & Guilds Level 3 Workbased Diploma in Livestock Production Key Skills Awards A range of NPTC Certificates of Competence as above
What can I do afterwards? The programme enables successful students to progress to Higher National Diploma or Degree programmes at Higher Education institutions and from there to management positions within agriculture or related industries.
Materials required: You will need stationary plus appropriate working clothes to include overalls, waterproofs, steel toecap boots and wellingtons.
Additional information about this course: The course is one day per week over two years.
