Description Breakdown:
Designed on the Engineering Competency Standards & meets the requirements of both employers & the QCA who oversee award accreditation. This course underpins the Apprenticeship programme at Level 2 but can be a stand alone programme for mature trainees.The programme is made up of 6 units, the 1st 3 being the core & the remainder being skills specific. They are: Engineering Environment Awareness, Engineering Techniques, Engineering Principles, Electrical & Electronic Principals, Testing Methods, Systems & Devices. There is 1 multi-choice external exam covering the 3 core units & then on programme assessment, in either multi-choice format or short answer questions. Practical elements are tested through â€-skills tests†in the college workshops. For apprenticeship programmes you will need to carry out appropriate NVQ and Key Skills/Functional Skills. The NVQ is made up of 6 units.
