Course programme
You will be employed in a relevant job role, focusing on payroll or administration. You will earn a wage whilst gaining skills and qualifications employers need and value. This Apprenticeship could help you find sustained employment working in an accounts or payroll department, helping a business or organization manage their money properly.
Running a business involves a lot of financial activities, from expenses and bills to taxes and payroll.
Having a business brain, as well as a way with numbers, is a good start if you want to work in payroll.
Job titles could include:
- Payroll Assistant
- Payroll Clerk
- Payroll Administrator
- Trainee Payroll Administrator
The Apprenticeship will include:
- Diploma in Payroll Level 2
- English Level 1 (unless GCSE grade C or above is already achieved)
- Maths Level 1 (unless GCSE grade C or above is already achieved)
- ICT Level 1 (unless GCSE grade C or above is already achieved)

Entry Requirements
You must have an employer who will support you through your Apprenticeship and allow you time off to attend college. Many people find their own job or are already employed but if not dedicated college staff can try and help you find employment.
- An initial assessment indicating that you are working at level 1 and you are able to achieve level 1 English and Maths within one year.
- You should demonstrate an interest or knowledge of working in the vocational area.
- Attention to detail.
- Appreciation of the importance of confidentiality in relation to payroll work.
- Self-motivated.
- Willingness to learn and apply that learning in the workplace.
- Commitment to studying and personal development.
- Willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people both written and verbal.
- Being numerate and literate.
- Enjoyment of problem solving and analysis.
