This course is intended for staff who are working under direct supervision with children aged 5 years and over and following the National Curriculum. Applicants need to be employed in a school environment for 26 hours or more per week.

About this course
You should have strong communication skills, be organised, creative and flexible. You will need to be employed for at least 26 hours a week in an appropriate position carrying out supervised activities to support teaching and training in a school environment. You will also need to be able to demonstrate through initial assessment or prior achievement that you are ready, willing and able to study functional skills at Level 1 in English, Maths and ICT.

What will I study on the course?
You will develop the skills required to provide positive and enabling environments for pupils establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships and modelling appropriate behaviour. You will learn to work as part of an education team providing activities and opportunities which promote children's learning and development in line with school policies and procedures and the National Curriculum.
