About this course

You should have two GCSEs at Grade D in English and maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification and have an interest in bricklaying. Following a successful interview and initial assessment results, you will be allocated a place to study the practical and theoretical elements of bricklaying. You will need an employer in the brickwork industry to be able to do this course.

NVQ / Diploma in Trowel Occupations and Bricklaying, Health and Safety and Employer Rights and Responsibilities Certificates.

Course programme

What will I study on the course?

You will learn thin joint masonry cladding, solid walling, cavity walling and both isolated and attached piers. Ideal if you are employed as a bricklayer and wish to develop your skills and gain a recognised Qualification.

Additional information

New bricklayers: you will attend college one day per over the two years and spend the remaining time working for your employer. Experienced bricklayers: you will access an individual training package to build on your existing skills and knowledge. You will develop the skills and knowledge to become a competent bricklayer through a series of comprehensive practical training and workshop activities. You can start your Apprenticeship at any time in the year.
